8 a.m.: the school's online learning platform answers “504 Gateway Timeout” to every student
Meknes · AWS account eu-west-3 · Groupe scolaire Nour Al Maarifa · 08:05
The Groupe scolaire Nour Al Maarifa (fictional, 3,200 students in Meknes and Ifrane) uses an
online learning platform: ent.nourmaarifa.ma. A classic AWS architecture: an ALB in two
public subnets, two EC2 application instances (port 8080) in two private subnets,
and an RDS database.
No deployment since Thursday. Last night, the security team “applied the audit's recommendations” to the network. This morning at 07:55, just as students open their lessons and homework, the site answers 504 Gateway Timeout. Teachers cannot start the 08:30 assessments.
You are on your workstation with the AWS CLI v2 (region eu-west-3). There is no SSH: the
instances are reachable through SSM.
This simulation is reserved for students enrolled in a course.
