Al Amal Clinic: backups of the patient records VM fail every night

Al Amal Clinic, in Fez, hosts its patient records software on the Linux VM vm-dossiers-01 (Ubuntu 22.04, resource group rg-clinique-prod, region francecentral). It is protected by Azure Backup (Recovery Services vault rsv-clinique-frc, daily backup at 22:00).

This morning, the quality manager notices in the weekly report that the last six backups have failed. The last restore point dates from 12 October. On 13 October, a contractor applied a hardening script to the Linux servers (healthcare compliance audit). He claims he “only touched the local firewall, nothing on the Azure side”.

A week without backups on health data is unacceptable. You are on poste-cloud with the Azure CLI logged in; the VM is reachable over SSH (azureuser@10.40.1.4) through the clinic's VPN.
