Rif Assurances: the brokers' extranet has stopped responding since last night's update

Rif Assurances, a regional mutual insurer in Tétouan, provides its 140 brokers with the extranet.rifassurances.ma extranet. Two Linux VMs (vm-extranet-01 and vm-extranet-02) sit behind a public Azure Load Balancer Standard, lb-extranet-pub (resource group rg-rif-extranet).

Last night, the application team simplified the architecture: nginx, which acted as a relay on port 80, was uninstalled; the .NET application now listens directly on port 8080. The load-balancing rule was changed accordingly. Everything “worked” on the VMs after the change.

This morning, no broker can open the extranet: the browser spins and then gives up. Today's car insurance quotes are blocked. You are on poste-cloud, Azure CLI signed in.
