At Assurances Al Massira, the contract management application and the SQL server are frozen

Rabat · esx-rbt-02 · Assurances Al Massira · Thursday 07:55

Assurances Al Massira, an insurance broker based in Rabat (head office in Hay Riad, 6 branches), runs all its operations on a standalone ESXi 8 host, esx-rbt-02: SRV-SQL-01 (contracts and claims database), SRV-APP-01 (management application), SRV-AD-01 and SRV-FICHIERS. The VM disks are on the DS-PROD-01 datastore (VMFS-6, 1.82 TB). A backup product backs up the VMs every night at 22:00 by taking a temporary snapshot, which it deletes at the end.

Since 07:40 this Thursday, nothing responds: agents in the 6 branches can no longer open a file, and the morning's motor claims are piling up. In the host web client, the VMs are “powered on” but frozen, with a pending question. The backup reports sent every morning to it@almassira.ma have been in “Warning” for three weeks; nobody was reading them.

You are the systems administrator, connected over SSH as root to esx-rbt-02 (no vCenter). Get the VMs running again without losing a single write of the SQL database.
